About the Curriculum

Peace in the Pew by Jody Burch includes twelve lessons (45-60 minutes each) and is specifically designed for adult Sunday school classes or small group formats.  Author Jody Burch is an alumnus of the Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation program and has 12 years experience working in churches.  Divided into three parts, the curriculum includes:

  1. Understanding the call to peace, and the concepts of conflict and unity (Lessons 1-3)
  2. How the Bible instructs us to deal with interpersonal conflict (Lessons 4-9)
  3. Practical understanding and application of Mediation (Lessons 10-12)

Peace in the Pew challenges participants to be peacemakers in their churches, to understand why God wants his church to be unified, and to work toward making unity a reality. Lessons challenge participants to deal with conflict in their own lives as well as help others work through conflicts.  A sample of the curriculum is below.
